Bradford hurt

Postby leopold » Sat Aug 23, 2014 10:46 pm

Ram's QB Bradford went down with an injury to the same knee that has been hurt before. Don't want to see anybody hurt, but I'd like to see Gilbert make the team. I'm not sure how many QB's an NFL team keeps, but the Ram's have a starting QB who is one tackle away from another season-ending injury, a 34 year-old backup in King, and two rookie QB's, Gilbert and Austin Davis out of Southern Miss. This is a team he could make. Hope he does, best of luck to him.

I wish the Cowboys would have drafted Gilbert to eventually replace Romo. Gilbert will be a productive NFL QB for many years.

Sam Bradford out for season

Terrible news for Bradford and the rams but this could be a great opportunity for Garrett.

I would be more excited for GG if he got more playing time last night

I do not think it makes a difference for Gilbert. They will go out and find another QB to start. Gilbert will still have to earn his spot, and I hope he does.

The Rams added Shaun Hill as a veteran backup, and while he's not a star, or even close to it, he's a serviceable journeyman kind of guy. What veteran can they go get (without paying an absurd ransom) in his place?

Will be interesting to see if Jeff Fisher is willing to go into the season with Hill, Austin Davis and Gilbert as his quarterbacks.

Ryan Mallett is out there. He is not game experienced but has been learning from the best.

I think the Rams' staff has liked Gilbert so far. Usually when you see a QB not get much time in a game when the staff actually likes what they do, it means they would like to stash him on the practice squad so they are hiding him from everyone else.

If the Rams trade for someone they think can start right now, like a Mallett, then you have to cut either Davis or Gilbert. Probably makes more sense to either stick with Hill or pick up another veteran and hold on to both Davis and Gilbert.

Honestly, though, you aren't getting out of the NFC West with a backup QB. Regardless of how good the defense is. It might be worth just moving through this season with Austin Davis and GG. If you add a top QB in the next draft to a Rams team that has a lot of very good parts, they would be set up pretty well moving forward at that point.

It would be nice if June Jones finally had a QB he coached in college actually make a regular season NFL roster. Gilbert is probably his last chance at that happening..............

At least stick GG on the practice squad
