I have SMU finishing at 5-7 and losing to Baylor by 45 was just about what I expected so no reason to modify my prediction that SMU squeaks by NTSU. I watched the UT/NTSU yesterday and NTSU was every bit as bad as SMU on offense probably against weaker competition. NTSU on offense is not Baylor after losing all of their top offensive stars. I also don't think NTSU's QBs can exploit SMU's biggest defensive weakness-its secondary. I mean NTSU QBs were 3-17 but had more passes intercepted (4) than completions for .9 yards per pass-not including the 68 yards of interception returns. NTSU didn't really score-Texas just fumbled a snap in its own endzone

NTSU on defense has only 1 returning starter in Front 7 so they won't be able to exploit SMU's obvious weakness in the offensive line like Baylor.

I just don't see SMU starting 0-6 which is exactly what will happen if SMU loses to NTSU-so SMU needs to find a way to survive. May live to regret the obvious snake pit trap in Denton with a huge enthusiasm gap favoring NTSU but I'll go with SMU basically because NTSU can't exploit the weaknesses of either SMU's offensive or defense

SMU 21
NTSU 17

We've won 2 bowl games since that :!:

You're a TROLL using that as a disguise.

We won those 2 bowls games with the players from classes before the ASU fiasco. As of last year those player SMU recruited then were just starting to hit the field and you saw what happened last year and you see what is happening now.

I like our defense's chances against NTSU (I REALLY hope to see Minor have a break out game, particularly, and would love to see JR get a pick six - really pulling for that kid!). I hope our offense (ESPECIALLY our offensive line) comes out with a chip on their shoulders and we sling it all over the place (would like to see Joseph and Lancaster torch them).

If we don't win by at least a couple of touchdowns, I will be extremely disappointed.

I'll be in Hilton Head - do we think this game will be televised anywhere? frontrow?

The bad news is North Texas defense did not look as inept as their offense. Our Oline better play 'lights out' to win this game. It can be done. I'll take a chance on them, 28 - 14.

I don't know what to think about this game after that debacle in Waco. We might be one of the worst teams in Division I this year, or we might show a backbone this week. I'm expecting a very entertaining, hotly contested game that should come down to the last possession or two.

TROLL :!:

Our recruiting has remained fairly steady. From your post, I was expecting some of the truly disasters during the Bennett years :!: See below.

SMU TCU

2002 #69 #80
2003 #62 #69
2004 #144 #89
2005 #82 #54
2006 #110 #60
2007 #99 #81

2008 #91 #97
2009 #81 #46
2010 #76 #46
2011 #50 #26
2012 #90 #37
2013 #71 #30
2014 #80 #73

I've already explained to you previously that there are several mistakes in those numbers. I'm not going to through it all again but for example the 2004 Class-THERE AREN"T 144 teams in Division 1A. At the time there were only about 116-118. Rivals had some duplicative numbers and mistakes in there-the numbers are screwed up. You know that because I proved that the last time you posted those numbers.

Another problem-see 2002-is that you can't always compare the small classes TCU took with the large classes SMU took. For example In 2002 TCU had 2 Four Stars 3 Three Stars and 2.41 grade per recruit on only 17 commitments while SMU had only one 3 star and a average per recruit of 2.04 on a full class of 25 commitments. TCU easily had the better classes-actually they routed SMU that year in recruiting. TCU generally took smaller classes throughout this period. Any fair analysis of Total Points and Average Per Recruit would show TCU without question has had the better class in at a minimum of 24 out of 25 years and I personally think even the other year.

The same exact scenario took place in 2008 when SMU took a JUMBO class of 28 and TCU took a class of 16

BUT the MOST IMPORTANT POINT is that SMU under Bennett was recruiting under an entirely different admission model which even June Jones admits-see my quote of June Jones below. You are comparing apples to oranges and anybody that actually knows what he is talking about understands that

You can't win if you can't score. We have no QB. North Texas 30 , SMU 0....

but NTSU QBs actually played worse. .9 per pass with 3 completions for 11 yards for NTSU and 4 Ints for UT returned 68 yards
