Yeah I'm almost at the end of my rope with SMU Football. Hopefully we'll be making a coaching change in a few months but I'm not confident they will get it right. So much potential but so little foresight from our leaders.

I find the wonder of the 'young' rich alumni that will step up and demand a better coach to be fascinating.

Asume the current rich guys, the ones that don't get it, squander their money and o forth are 75 years old.

And we have sucked, absolutely sucked for 25 years with a few recent bright moments.

That means the big bucks guys were 50 years old when we started to suck. The were students and alumni when we were decent to great.

So the 'young rich guys', the ones that are 50 years old, what did they have? 25 years of suck. I bet a lot of them didn't even go to games. Why would they be interested in SMU football?

The DP and Pye just keep on killing. We have a generation of alumni that could care less about SMU and certainly don't ant to contribute their hard earned cash to a program that sucked for 25 years (fort he most part).

To get a good coach, we have to have big bucks. And right now, that is the old rich guys so I wouldn't go around insulting them. We need them (and their cash) more than ever.

Even the BB revitalization was by a person my age, and I am an old guy.

I haven't posted for a while because I became very tired of the sunshiners and June apologists who could not see what has been coming for at least two years. The reality is, the train has left the station, we are not on it, and unless SMU is happy to play at a lower level of football, we likely will not have a program within five years. The really sad part about this though is that no one is really talking about our future issues in basketball. I love what is happening at Moody right now. Larry Brown was the perfect hire and I can not wait for this upcoming season. At the same time, the changes that have recently moved us down a peg in football have also created an uneven level for our future recruiting in basketball. If you want to make a difference in athletics for our university's future, please stay vigilant about demanding even recruiting standards for our program relative to the power conferences. These are not necessarily university level standards, but rather conference level decisions. If things stay the way they are now, all of the great things that have happened on the basketball court will begin to erode over the next 3 to 4 years. The big boys want to push the little guys out in all of the revenue sports and we can not let them! It is likely too late for football, but there is still a lot we can do to sustain momentum on the basketball front.

Time for the young money to step up. Let's see it. In fact, I would love to see it monetarily and in leadership. I understand the frustration with the " established money" guys, I just don't see any other group stepping up to the plate.

The young money has tried to step up but the old money won't release control.

Doesn't make a difference, the old money controls Turner.

Turner is controlled by money. Most money should win.
