I stopped halfway to Houston one day at Woody's and saw the Cedar Hill coaches in the store. I congratulated them on the State Title and they showed me their new rings. I asked how good DeMarkus Lodge really was and then asked how often they hear from SMU. I wish you could have seen the facial expressions. Another proud Pony moment. Lazy and arrogant were two of the descriptions I heard.

Mexmustang will probably be on pretty soon to slam the article after the coaches tell him what to say.

Even though this shouldn't be a surprised to anyone, it's still disturbing.

When your head coach thinks of himself as a living legend and a pro level coach, (despite all the evidence) he is not likely to want to spend time with high school coaches.

True this and with an epic documentary coming out on the life and times of June Jones...why spend time with mere mortals?

Our next guy better be someone who needs to rent an office at Cedar Hill, Desoto, Euless, Lincoln, SOC etc... They better know the names of the kids of the linebackers coach's nephew.

We also need to dedicate money for 4 coaches who do nothing but stand on our sideline on Saturday, after having witnessed 3 high school games each every Friday of the year - and then they spend the rest of the next week visiting all the ones they couldn't get to. It is not that hard to figure out how this works.

also - put a facebook page up that says "SMU - we will start legitimate transfers" and watch them come running. We need to beat Kansas State at the transfer/JC game.

So, would you say investing my life savings into the June Jones movie was a bad move?

Mexmustang Impersonator: How dare that E.J. Holland question the Great Wizard of Honolulu with the truth. How do we really know what was coming out of this nationally prominent high school head coaches' mouth.

I've been asking why we are recruiting QBs from Timbuktu rather than from Texas for 7 years-this is the hottest state in country for QBs and its been like that since the rise of 7 on 7 Tournaments. June Jones has failed to recruit and develop quality QBs from outside Texas-what is he about 0-6?

Brad Franchione would be a good hire IMO. Knows the Texas juco ppl, won a Natl juco title, now working under his dad at D1 level.

EJ has a personal thing against Jones, but you can't really argue with the content of that story.

Can we stop with the inference that June has a harem of women, and has produced hundreds of kids. Every time someone defends the coaching staff to any extent, they are called out as either the coach or a relative of some sort. Resorting to that stuff to discredit an opinion is extremely juvenile. It's not very reflective of the quality of person we graduate at the university.

E.J. is one of the only reporters in the SMU community willing to report the truth coming out of the mouths of coaches and high school recruits. SMU has always suffered from the lack of independent, critical analysis of its football program from its reporters which most Texas teams have. He's only reporting what hundreds of recruits and coaches have been quoted as saying. Some but not all the posters on ponyfans don't have routine access to this unvarnished truth based on these quotation. I just wish we had some reporters like E.J Holland back in 1989 through the following 2 decades of blind ignorance from the SMU community

The problem now is that what was kept under the surface for several years about SMU's unwillingness to recruit Texas aggressively is now starting to bubble to the surface to where high school coaches across the state are now publicly calling out the SMU staff. That's really unprecedented.

Everybody gets the problem. Jason's just saying the problem itself is a big enough topic of discussion without having to resort to the group-think sophomoric stuff.

So what do you suggest should be done about the problem?
