IMO the players have been auditioning for the last 8 games or so. Very quickly the deadwood will be cast aside and those that busted-butt and have D1 ability will be considered for the future.

I do not know if the players have had any real direction. All they have known is that changes would be made. This is the first time they know their new coach will be watching.

A win is definitely possible. It will be a competition between the 3rd worst scoring offense (UConn) vs. the 2nd worst scoring defense (SMU). Also, their scoring defense (87th) will be the worst we have faced all season after Tulsa.

Plus, the weather is projected to be light freezing rain, and the best performance we had all season has been in cold weather.
