According to Bill Nichols SMU hired former Florida (and USC and some other places) o-line coach to help coach the offensive line.

little known fact: that's not a requirement to coach special teams at SMU.

But I thought some were saying how well Suan taught the offensive line preparing for the Pitt game after Klemm left.

Nothing against Coach Suan ... I like him. I think the comments came more from the players after the AK departure when they were asked to compare, how they liked coach Suan's approach etc. Given our current circumstances (yes Tim Davis was probably sitting around ...so what), this is a significant get for us right now in mid-season. Kudos to Mason for stepping up and making it happen. Coach Suan might be able to assist in the ST area now also.

Didn't we already have an OL coach?

When the old guy that looked like Luther got canned, Junesus moved Suan over from RB coach. Since our OL is horrible, it is smart to bring in someone with a lot of experience to fill the empty spot on the coaching staff (June's old position).

Unfortunately, there is an empty spot on the coaching staff for special teams coach that remains filled by a guy with no credentials.

Great move by Mason. The OL needed help. Suan was praised by players during the bowl prep, and they looked better than they had all season at that game. But the line has really struggled this year obviously. We already have an RB coach, where does Suan go? Maybe he helps out with QB and Morrisson goes upstairs during the game and really serves as an OC.
