Ha! Gary Patterson starting early

While the BIG 10 is terrible, no way he really feels this way. Gotta be a backhanded compliment from GP.

“@EthanDenton76: Here's how bad the Big Ten is: Gary Patterson feels that SMU will be a bigger challenge to his team than Minnesota was...”

Do they have a buy week or something?

TCU is good at buying players, but they do have a bye this week. Plus, the SMU game is their Super Bowl. Two week prep is needed. 8)

Man can't open his mouth without putting a foot in it.

But I'm pretty sure he was talking about Minnesota having a very different kind of offense than what he'll see against SMU and most of the Big 12, and really meant playing against SMU's style is a better gauge on how the frogs will look in Big 12 play. Per the DMN article I read last week, patterson and minnesota's coach are good friends.

The kind of different as in Minnesota has crossed the 50 yard line more than a couple times this year?

they didn't cross the 40 against TCU until about the 4th Q. They proceeded to get QB hit, ball tipped and Intercepted on that first play

He's right, they'll be lucky if they beat us.

The Frogs completely dominated Minnesota. . .which is disheartening because I think the Gophers would beat SMU by at least 3 TDs right now.

So is Patterson back to helping us recruit now that June is gone? Is it a coincidence that we had poor recruiting classes, especially in Texas, after SMU beat TCU and Patterson said he wouldn't help SMU anymore? Or was it just the ASU thing and poor coaching/recruiting?

I'll be honest. I really have become fond of Gary Patterson's media rants. The Briles rant last year was even better than the SMU rant.

He may want to get that Baylor rant warmed up again. Ours....not so much.

Always a classic:

"He hasn't changed much either, so if we want to get into those kinds of matches. But, I don't go there," Patterson said. "All we've ever tried to do here at TCU is help SMU. At some point in time we were going to get beat by them, so we got beat by them. We've helped them, let them come over and talked to them about how we do things academically, how we do things at the stadium, how we do everything to try to make their program better and their way of thanking us for that is to cut us down."...

"SMU has had a lot of help from us over the last three or four years to improve their program," Patterson said. "I don't appreciate being treated the way it is; that's how we got reciprocated. We're going to go on about our business, but they're not going to get the same help anymore -- not about a ballgame, not about conferences, not about anybody. They're getting no help from Gary Patterson, period.

"They shouldn't ask me at SMU about going into a conference, they shouldn't ask me about how they play, they shouldn't ask me about their players, they shouldn't ask me about anything because they're not getting any help, period, any more. Because we've bent over backwards to make sure that they can improve their program because I believe that's what you do."
