I was at the Highland Park hundredth anniversary celebration and my job after it was over was to guard his Heisman, and then carry it out to someone's car. Pretty cool

Was it SMU's copy of the trophy or Doak's copy?

It was the real thing. Came from Doak's son Russ.

Sure you go a pic with the trophy doing the Heisman pose?

Well, both of them are real...

I have to say, Ponyboy, that when you said you were guarding Doak's heir's son, I though that you had become a security guard for Doak's grandson.

That would have been Ryan Woolcott, right?

I once carried a sealed diplomatic pouch from the Dalai Lama to the Gompa at Thyangboche monastery in the Khumba Himal of Nepal. Does that count as close enough? Sort of like a Heisman... well not really, but I thought it was cool at the time.
About 25 feet from the Hillcrest track... With the boots so tall and the writing on the wall...

Yes, of course I did the obligatory heisman pose next to the trophy. The cool part was carrying it fifty yards to so to someone's car. It's exactly as heavy as it looks. I have never been more careful with something in my life. Thanks to Doak's family for letting us use it as a part of this celebration. We had Clayton Kershaw's 2013 Cy Young too.
