Be patient. This is the most talented team JJ assembled at SMU.

I'm getting more confident we can go 0-12, but can we break this record for a full season's work?

The season record is 428 points outscored (held by the 1916 SMU Mustangs).

Second is 423 points outscored (held by the 1981 Northwestern Wildcats).

Wow, interesting site. In WWII, several of the military bases formed teams and competed against colleges, pro teams, and other bases. Apparently, the team from Randolph Field in San Antonio went 12-0-0 in 1944 with wins over Rice, Texas, SMU, and UT-Arlington!

Well isnt that grand? SMU may go down as the worst point differential team in FBS history in the year 2014?

According to posted list, we already have the number one spot. Might be number one and two after this year. The only thing that might save us is we get to play two of the other bottom 10 teams.

that record will not be easy to break; we will have to lose by 50 points or more to Houston and UCF because I don't think Tulsa, USF & UConn are good enough to beat us by huge margins...but I've been wrong before

What will make it tough to break is that 1916 Pony team lost to Rice 146-3 in the 8th game of the season.

I know this team is bad, but good lord that's a beating.

Rice Institute was founded on September 23, 1912 and SMU was founded on 1911. Maybe Rice had some students from the shipyards on that team.

Yeah, that 1916 team lost some bad games. They even lost to the University of Dallas. Check out the football team that UD fields nowadays. I have every confidence that this is one team that the 2014 Mustangs could beat.
