Who else enjoyed seeing that option pitch?

Postby smumustang1980 » Sat Oct 25, 2014 2:43 pm

The option play with the pitch to Line down near the goal line in our only TD drive brought back fond memories. I wish we'd see more of this.

I love option football. One reason I always kind of liked Dave Smith. And Lance M was one of the best option QBs ever.

if only Paul Johnson would have come instead of JJ. I know he was not a popular choice, but with all the athletes available in Texas a different style than everyone else, it might have been interesting. I thought he was flaming out at GA Tech earlier this year, but they are hanging tough

This idiocy should have been ditched along with PB. How much practice time do we waste on this nonsense?

No more than top rated national teams waste on it.

Top rated national teams don't need to work on fundamentals as much as SMU. This team needs to learn to block and tackle before spending time on the intricacies of the swinging gate.

Which is why we need to work on getting a real coach and maybe we can [deleted] about odd extra point tries numerous times instead of once every few games.

And apparently you have never played the game. Trotting to the line of scrimmage and moving to the right is not that intricate. My gosh, Stallion has move difficult moves line dancing at Red River.

Early in the game we had kinda a reverse option -- reverse meaning GK pitched forward, shovel/Utah pass style. That might work sometime.

Just because it isn't hard doesn't mean we should do it. Very high school.

Tell that to Auburn, Texas A&M, and several other ranked schools (I think Fl State does it too) that use it that they are very high school. If that is the case we need some more high school in our program
