SI: June on SMU (today 10/29)

Postby RGV Pony » Wed Oct 29, 2014 12:58 pm

I'm not one to belittle the struggles someone else faces, but...

Asked about the personal reasons behind his resignation, Jones explained that “he was trying run the whole thing, get everything right,” and hadn’t been sleeping hardly at all. We’re talking like a few hours of sleep a night.

Recruiting took up way too much of his time.

His whole philosophy is the college football equivalent of Scientology.

June Jones tells SI: “The SMU gig is going to be tough for the next guy too”
Yep...it's going to be tough for the next guy...thanks to your glorious recruiting.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

What a crock ****. Those were the demons he was fighting with? Even his reason for resigning was a lie, not surprisingly. I have absolutely no sympathy for this narcissus. To bad SMU can't sue that POS.

"We are probably a recruiting class and a half away from making a run like TCU did a few years back" - June Jones 2011

"This is going to be a tough gig for the next guy too."
June Jones 2014

Seriously. Eff this POS.

Jones is a liar, a coward and a cover up artist.

His excuse for leaving is weak at best. He was so consumed with work that he couldn't sleep? Exactly what was he doing? He certainly wasn't recruiting. We know practices were only for so long during the day, and it's not like he was revolutionizing a stale playbook that he has been using for his whole career.

What a sleazy scum bag. And all of a sudden, after 1 month, now he's completely fine and ready to get back to work?

I can't believe he is still getting paid, and for him to not point the finger at the person most responsible makes you dislike him even more. Look in the mirror buddy. You didn't do your job, and now he has the audacity to actually take on another HC position where he will steal more money from another school in the future.

Reading and hearing this must make Sewell, Hunt, Ford, etc. absolutely sick to their stomach. They allowed themselves to be brainwashed by this self absorbed lunatic to the tune of about $12M of their money. Maybe the old expression is true....a fool and his money.

Great observation. if Turner and the CoC were all so easily fooled by this con man, we all better hope that Hart really is the guy to lead this search and make a methodical, informed decision on our next new coach. If the CoC and Turner are leading this charge we should all be very worried.

He's been working SO HARD to get everything just right

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED 0-9 and an offense that has about as many punts as points

“I just kind of had a couple of weird things happen, but that was just because I hadn’t been sleeping.” Jones added that he he hadn’t slept much over the past 20 years; but “then all of a sudden started sleeping about an hour every night.”

....WTF does that even mean? Just a bunch of lying, back-pedaling gibberish!

“They’ve got to help the kids.” Jones explained. “They’ve got to get some tutors, academics more toward the student-athletes."

As a parent I can tell everyone here, with 100% certainty that this is BS, he is a liar, and just making excuses. Every player on this team has as much access as they want or need to tutors for any class they want. If they just don't show up to class, or don't show up for tutoring then it's on them.

"They got some issues at SMU that they’ve got to overcome, and I don’t know if they will ever overcome them"

If I was SMU's lawyer I'd be taking a close look at his settlement to check his confidentiality clause-he's getting pretty close to the line.

I was wondering about the terms of him leaving. He's out there trying to rehab his image and is toeing the line of throwing SMU under the bus. What's going to happen when we finish 0-12 and he's out there still trying to get hired??
