Another scholarship open

Postby PonyPride » Fri Jan 23, 2015 7:00 pm

Multiple players have told me that Kolney Cassel has transferred to Sacramento State.

The following press release confirms it, despite the fact that the picture graphic includes a picture of Neal Burcham, not Cassel.

Good for him. Who's next?

Now the question is will a transfer take his scholarship or does this open up room on the recruiting board? Just speculation but I'd assume the former since nsd is so close

Since Hicks can probably be counted back to last year, and the JUCO CB isn't coming-I think we only have about 14 commitments-we've got room. There will be sufficient attrition-and if not kids scholarships will not be renewed and/or some my be greyshirted. I personally wish the NCAA would mandate 4 year scholarships but that's not how this game is played. This roster has double digit players who don't fit offensively or defensively with this program in the future

When was it announce that the juco guy isn't coming? Hadn't heard about that.

I really don't think it will be a problem..morris will cut players with bad attitudes, guys won't wanna ride the bench (see Cassel) and seniors graduate out every year. In 2 years there will be 75 morris recruits on the roster and the players who can't help in an on field capacity will be in minimal numbers. You can only bring in so many a year, build it right!

Good for him. He has a great arm if he can ever get his accuracy down. Of all of the QBs on the roster, he was the least mobile, and the worst fit for the new system.

He is also from the furthest HS away. Not a surprise to me that the HS recruits we removed offers from were outside the state, and now the first QB to go is outside the state.

Now we have Davis, Hicks, Burcham, Severt, Colbert, Krstic on scholarship, right?

CM isn't going to play footsie with Colbert. He either wants him as a QB or he will turn him into a Jeremy Johnson. Problem is, I don't know if there is really a position for the converted QB at WR anymore, corner is much harder to pick up, and safety you have to want to hit people. I bet we know the answer to where he goes at the very first practice of Spring.

Are Burcham and Kristic both out for the spring? Burcham would have no shot at catching up if he misses spring ball.

this was the most logical transfer. Good luck to Kolney and hope he is able to get playing time closer to home
