Do we continue that tradition in the Chad Morris era? I REALLY hope we do.

If so, who gets it this year?

No one has it on the roster posted on smumustangs.com right now.

My vote would be JR Richardson after all he's been through (injuries, illness, etc) but I don't know him personally of course.

Discuss.

I thought this was about our preseason ranking.

I think it would be great to continue the tradition!

Based on video interviews, maybe Zach Wood or Jonathan Yenga?

I thought we were getting ranked #23 in the preseason. Then I remembered it's only 2015. Only a few more years hopefully

They need to just retire #23. It is long overdue.

I believe the jersey is retired as they did with Meredith's a few years ago. They do not retire numbers at SMU.

I believe they do retire number at SMU. I believe Doak's number is retired. Coach Jones said that was one of the reasons they did the #23 because they retired other numbers but never his and it bother Levias. And on the basketball side I stil can't believe they retired Koncak's number and have not retired Ira Terrell's number. Terrell's number should have been retired before Koncak's number imo.

This is from the SMU site.

Meredith is the sixth SMU football standout and ninth SMU athlete or administrator overall to have his or her jersey retired. Previous honorees have been Raymond Berry (football), Cash Birdwell (trainer), Eric Dickerson (football), Forrest Gregg (football), Lamar Hunt (football), Karlin Kennedy (women's basketball), Jon Koncak (men's basketball), Jim Krebs (men's basketball) and Doak Walker (football).

We should probably do whatever levias wants. If he wants it retired let's do it via a big event.

Men's soccer retired number 9 for Luchi Gonzalez, although that may not be officially done through the university.

Yes the jerseys are retired, not the numbers. Players still wear the numbers. Doak may be an exception. And I am certain that Levias' jersey has been retired. If not, we have a serious issue that needs to be addressed.

That is the list of SMU retired jersey's directly from the SMU website and Levias' name is not on it.

The 'retired' jersey numbers fly on flags on the east side of Ford.

It actually is incorrect.

Counting those up, Meredith was actually the 10th SMU athlete or administrator overall to have his or her jersey retired. Although I am not sure how you retire Cash Birdwell's "jersey" given that trainers don't wear jerseys
