SMU got the guy that Morris had been recruiting at Clemson, and UH got the guy Herman had been recruiting at OSU. Works out well for both schools.

BTW, who's the Ohio State QB commitment? I don't see that they have one at the moment.

Biggest difference between UH and SMU is that one has a pedigree of producing quarterbacks that not only produce in college but also start in the NFL while the other had their program nuked by the NCAA.

Yeah, I suppose seeing teams start Ware, Klinger, Kolb and Keenum would make that statement true. Winning, on the other hand...

Which of those former Houston QBs is a starter in the NFL? Last I saw Kolb was getting cut by AZ.

I bet Kolb and Keenum wish they would have attended SMU for two years and then transferred to Sam Houston State like Josh McCown, who will be cashing a $5.25 Million check from the Bucs this year.

I hope UH enjoyed all of those years where the SMU coaching staff didn't bother recruiting - as that time has passed...

I was making the reference that they started for a team at some point. The last QB to start a game would have been Keenum. Other than that, they haven't had jack.

He is being recruited as an athlete.

From the article:

The quarterback will come to SMU as an athlete, but is excited to get to work on helping with the SMU class and to camp at SMU.
“I’ll be up in there camp in July and I guess I’ll get some evaluation there and what position they want me to work on and what me to do,” Rock said. “Whatever they need me to play, I can play it.”
