Lasecki Named To Rimington Trophy Watch List
Senior has started 36 games on the Hilltop

DALLAS (SMU) -- SMU senior Taylor Lasecki is one of 50 players on the Spring Watch List for the 2015 Rimington Trophy, the National College Football Awards Association announced today.

The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in college football and is named after the award's namesake, Dave Rimington, who was a consensus first-team All-America center at Nebraska in 1981 and 1982.

Lasecki, who was also listed on the Fall Watch List prior to the 2014 campaign, started 11 games for the Mustangs last season, with nine at center and two at right guard. Lasecki started all 12 games at center for the Mustangs in 2013. That year, he was part of an offense that set school standards in passing yards, first downs, total offense average, passing yard average, completion percentage and completions. The team was also second in school history in total offense.

In 2012, he was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team as SMU posted top-10 school efforts in scoring, scoring average, total offense, passing yards, passing TDs, completions, attempts, completion percentage and first downs among others, as Lasecki and his fellow linemen blocked for C-USA Offensive Player of the Year Zach Line.

The winner will be recognized at the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Saturday, January 16, 2016.

Of course, this ensures the move to guard will stick, right?

If the line as a whole doesn't improve then he won't make the next stage.

Because 40% of all D1 centers are on the list and everyone gets a ribbon, kinda like bowl games for everyone these days.

Hopefully it's motivation to have his best season ever, and be the senior leader this O-Line desperately needs.
