Elie Nabushosi

Postby PonyPride » Thu Jul 23, 2015 12:55 pm

DE Elie Nabushosi said Thursday that, after missing spring workouts while recovering from an injured labrum in his shoulder, he has been cleared and could participate fully if practice started today. He looks leaner and stronger than last year, but said his weight is the same — "about 250, but it's a better 250" because of the rigorous conditioning he has done under strength and conditioning coach Trumain Carroll and his staff. He said a lot of his teammates are "hard to recognize" because of their offseason work. He didn't cite specific numbers for their lifting or their weight, but a few that he mentioned who obviously have put in major work in the weight room were OLs Chauncey Briggs, Taylor Lasecki and Kris Weeks, and DLs Zach Wood and Spencer Hollie.

Wells that's good because Weeks looked like the Pillsbury dough boy back in spring and Laseki was easily confused for a raggedy ann doll last year.

Also saw Zach Wood today — he said he's up to 280 pounds.

Wood is a workout freak. I think he is really excited about the new strength program. I don't think he was thrilled at all about the old regime.

This is all good to hear. Glad we have a real strength program in place after the last cluster f.

cluster f is such a good phrase, right up there with rat f.

Great to hear that the boys have been putting in the work in the weight room during the off-season, I still believe there is a lot more talent on the team than last year showed. I hope their hard work pays off and we are at least competitive in conference this season and finish around the. 500 mark. (I desperately want to saying above .500, but trying to temper my expections/hopes after last year's debacle)
