Back before the first season at Ford, SMU posted pictures of the new field but the stripes hadn't been painted yet.

My college roommate put the pictures online with a fake press release, including quotes from Copeland and Cavan, talking about how the field actually had green stripes to confuse the television viewers as a protest against revenue inequity in college sports.

It got picked up by some news outlets as true!

I guess not much has changed regarding gullibility online since 2000 (or revenue inequity...) :)

Most hideous thing I have ever seen. Reminds me of Boise State where watching a game on TV is impossible followed closely by Eastern Washington.

Well.......the stripes should have a slimming visual effect for both the offensive and defensive linemen.

Im pretty sure that Boise is granddaddy'd in as the last d1 school to have color turf per ncaa rules (thankfully). Which is probably why Oregon hasn't done something like this already

Central Arkansas went to purple and gray stripes a couple of years ago.

The NCAA doesn't have any rules related to turf color.

They tried to make a rule mandating home teams to wear uniforms different than their turf color, but it didn't pass.
