Lot of names on that list that many threw out there when SMU was in its search. I believe we came out ahead.

I think Bill Clark is still the HC, but JJ would be a natural fit for Director of Recruiting Operations.

On the other hand, UAB might be a good spot for him. Expectations would not be much and his strategy of sitting in the office and waiting for prospects to come to him would not threaten Alabama. Jones was not so much a bottom feeder as a recruiter as he was a filter feeder. That is, he was like a clam or sponge attached to a rock and taking whatever water and wind sent his way.

He might not get the money that SMU spent but perhaps could stay there a long time and a certain faction of the media would talk about how he deserved a shot at a more important destination if he beat Troy or Middle Tennessee. The Blazers would play for some big crowds if SEC schools scheduled them for homecoming.

His fan base might think him a little crazy though , if he started talking about spring football.

I think there are several nice golf courses nearby, so that could be a fit.

If the Alabama trustees are serious about killing the program, they will make this happen.

The Alabama trustees would gladly pay June's salary, and just mandate that June only hire coaches that don't have any contacts in the state, are over 55 years old, only NFL experience, or have deep seeded hatred for recruiting. Or, in other words, just tell June to use his rolodex.

Funny and ironic how some unknowledgeable people, especially in the media, still consider him an offensive guru with the run and shoot when he was so bad offensively at SMU...even with a lineup filled with future NFLers Beachum, Lerebius, sanders, Beasley, Johnson, Robinson, Line, a CFL star in Bo Levi, Garrett Gilbert and a defense with Hunt, Davis, Reed, Crawford, Thompson, Moore, banjo.....

Greenbelt Pony is right — Daric Riley confirmed the story I read about Clark being retained as UAB's head coach.
