If you think about it, EVERYTHING actually did start going downhill right after faterson said he was going to stop helping us, so maybe he did, and then, well you know the rest.

Excellent point.

I see we continue to aspire to be a Sunbelt football team.

We have 19 games scheduled from 2016 on. 14 of those are against Sunbelt/CUSA nobodies. We are not continuing the Baylor series, and so far have not renewed the TCU series. Our priority has been locking down these garbage games. We have sunken to where we are signing up for payday games at Michigan, and getting only home-and-home with the teams that used to be our inferiors.

Look at 2019, we have UNT, Ark. St., and Tx. St. on our non-conference schedule. When the Pony Express took us to #2 in the country, none of these schools even played in D-IA.

Look at 2020. We will voluntarily play away games at both UNT and Tx. St.

Shame on us.

What else do you want? No P5 schools are going to do a home and home with smu today. These schools can either pocket huge dollars for a home game or they can play at smu in front of 25,000 fans. So the SMU AD can either schedule home and homes with inferior leagues or play a bunch of one and done deals on the road. It's an easy call. Obviously the goal is to improve the schedule but it's going to take time. SMU simply has no leverage in football right now.

They were right below us in last year's attendance rankings. Do you think anybody is scheduling SMU because we travel well?

94 SMU AAC 129,169 21,528 32,000 67.28 6
95 Texas St. Sun Belt 123,589 20,598 30,000 68.66 6

...because we've spent the last 10 years with the attitude that just playing some easier teams will turn things around. But hey, maybe this time it will work.

Also, I went to the future schedule site and picked a few random P5 schools, one from each conference.

NC State - @ECU, @Marshall and @Troy(!)
Kansas - @Memphis, @Houston, @Central Michigan, @Ohio
Purdue - @Marshall, @Nevada
UCLA - @BYU, @Memphis, @Cincinatti, @San Diego St.
Miss St. - @Southern Miss, @UMass, @BYU, @La Tech

You honestly believe Purdue will play in Reno but not Dallas? Kansas will play in Mount Pleasant but not Dallas? The problem is not that nobody will take our call. The problem is we have no ambition.

Hello Mr. Stealth, this is coach Morris. You're an idiot, but thanks for the advice. Sorry, but TCU, Baylor and A&M will never be 3 of our first 4 games again......ever.

We know what we're doing slappy, so get on board.

Thanks for your support,

Coach :D #PonyUpTempo

I realize you're only here to troll, and have been for years, but at least try to be realistic.

Georgia Tech scheduled a four game home and home with Tulane
Vandy scheduled a home and home with NIU and Houston
Louisville scheduled a home and home with Houston
Wake Forest scheduled a six game home and home with Army
Cal scheduled a home and home with San Diego State

And that's just a handful of examples....a lot of P5 schools would come here for a H&H because it's great exposure in one of the best recruiting hotbeds in the country. Chad has been pretty adamant about softening the OOC slate to build momentum and get some easy Ws, though. I'd be surprised if that wasn't part of his condition of being hired

CM mentioned in the signing day event that while building up he would like for the 4 OOC games to be:
1) TCU
2) NTSU
3) Lower tier P5
4) local texas fbs or fcs team

That's what I remember. Feel free to correct me if I made a mistake.
