Still don't understand the lack of love for Matt Davis. You guys were all hot and bothered about Hicks, and he is a likely redshirt, as he should be. Let's cheer for our guy Davis. He will flourish if we have a decent running game to support him.

I'm one of the few on here who said from the moment CM was hired that Matt Davis would fit the offense like a glove. Most of you thought Hicks would challenge for the starting spot but I never thought it would be close. Matt is a fantastic leader and will really excel in an offense that fits his skill set. Barring injury I think he is going to have a phenomenal year.

Congrats, you were bound to get something right one of these days

Yep, I was wrong last year when I waffled between 5-7 and 6-6. Oh, and I was wrong about Burcham. Injured, but still he never showed anything in the games. I also didn't see the deterioration in the strength of the team heading into the season last year. I probably should have, and probably should have let the lackadaisical attitude at the practices I watched impact me more heavily before weighing in on predictions.

However, I also watched Gilbert practice a couple of times and predicted he would do very well at SMU and would end up getting drafted. The same people ripped on me then when I said it and it turned out pretty well. Also predicted Holman's breakout season after he was invisible the first 3 years he was here. Also predicted the struggles of the o-line 2 years ago. Mistakenly thought it would rebound last year after watching practice, but I didn't realize the returning players on the defensive line had deteriorated so much.

Man, this just brings back memories of how we squandered a season in jj's first year just to prove a worthless point. Ugh.

I know baylor will miss oakmen, but that's a lot of yards for tonight.

Really - and one at the end to prove another point. Hopefully we settle into a normal progression at QB where there is a starter and when he graduates, the second team QB takes over.

It is really quite amazing how many QBs we ran thru during JJs tenure.

Just having some sort of running game has got to help Davis. Run setting up the pass rather than the pass setting up the run.

It may take time, but I am excited to see how he develops over the season and against lesser teams than Baylor.

Once thing I absolutely don't doubt is Matt's desire and leadership. Talking with him over the summer, he is both humbled and pumped about being counted on to lead the team.
