After the season Houston has had, Herman could undoubtedly land a P5 gig and a big raise but he will also have a good team coming back so might be able to parlay that success if the "right" job isn't available this year. It may well come down to whether his family likes Houston or whether they have a "dream location" that he might want to hold out for. He's got ties to Texas, California and Ohio, where I gather he still has family. Who knows? Does he wait to see what happens in Austin?? If he and his family have decided they don't care for Houston as a place to live, I would expect him to bail out early...especially if both Missouri and S. Carolina make offers.

Herman strikes me as the kind of guy that really wants the "Name" coaching job - OSU, Michigan, USC, Texas, TAMU, Florida, ND, etc.

If he doesn't get the USC job (after 1 year, unlikely), I think Cougar High is a great spot for him to get ready for a "big" promotion. Even if Missouri and S. Carolina offer, I think he passes.

S Carolina interim coach had been told to stop pursuing commitments as they are close to announcing a coaching hire.

Do you know where your coach is?

Syracuse open as well. Somehow Kyle Flood still employed at Rutgers.

Since Rutgers will inevitably make a bad hire, why bother to make a change??

what if they run out of "Bright Young Coaching Prospects"?

I think the AAC pretty much got them all in the last few years

I think this is actually a real possibility. When the carousel starts spinning there will be some surprise hires that people aren't happy with.

poor guys Defensive Coordinators have been out of style for years as head coaching candidates
