This is the least of the lessons he needs to learn.

Davis has been one read and done since he's taken his first snap here. It wasn't good enough at Tyler JUCO and its not good enough at this level.

The QB that will (I pray to God) get us out of this mess is still in high school.

Moore will start the move...I think his relief will be the big one.

Glad they've played so hard. You can tell they're disappointed. The score doesn't reflect how close the game was.

Similar to our TCU game. We get to within 5 points and collapse.

Uh, we just put up 40 points on a ranked team who previously hadn't given up more than 26 all season. Davis was a large reason for that.

We had a chance very late in the 4th quarter to stage a major upset. Did we get it done, no but everyone back away from the ledge. If you can't see progress on both sides of the ball tonight then you're not trying hard enough. When we previously wilted in recent weeks we rose up tonight. That game could've gotten out of hand several times but the team didn't let it (offensively or defensively) until the very end.

If folks remember when PB was head coach, we blew coverages all the time. No adjustments were made in game (7 TD game). We would have plays consistently where we were out of position, or someone blew a coverage. At least one TD per game because of it.

When Mason took over, that stuff stopped. Yes, we couldn't handle the physicality of the option offense and there were other deficiencies. But the blown coverage crap went away for the most part.

The blown coverages and poor decision/missed assignment stuff is back full bore. And yes, when players are physically overmatched, they tend to lose mental focus from time to time. And yes, they are learning a new scheme and old habits are hard to kill off.

But some of it does have to be attributed to coaching.

Offense and defense played better than they did last year imo. First year Mason was here defense was horrible in every area. Defense did not play too bad this game and has been improving over the last 3 games. Just have to be patient and keep building through recruiting. Saw a lot of encouraging things today despite the loss.
