Big 12 expansion and Cougar High

Postby orguy » Mon Nov 23, 2015 1:28 am

With the Big 12 possibly cannibalizing itself out of a playoff spot again is cougar high really headed to the big 12 along with another AAC team?

OU certainly did not look very dominant over a depleted TCU squad Saturday. Very real possibility OSU wins Bedlam and no team from the Big 12 "earns" a playoff spot.

Two B12 teams (Baylor and OSU) screwed themselves with cupcake OOC schedules. OU screwed themselves by losing to a bad Texas team

If B12 can get a waiver to play champ game with 10 teams next year, why expand to 12? you're just cutting into the revenue pie

Also, why would B12 take UH and give Texas more in-state competition for recruits when they could just add Memphis and Cincy to get to 12? Remember, Texas calls the shots in the B12, Houston could become another Baylor or TCU to them. I dont think they want that

Briles philosphy has always been to schedule a cupcake noncon. OSU has certainly scheduled some difficult non conference opponents in years past. Unfortunately for them they chickened out this year.

Yes, UT does call the shots. So maybe the big 12 will end up with Bronco High (BSU) and BYU or the mentioned aac possibilities. I thought I read that David Boren (OU president) was pushing for expansion along with guys like Bill Snyder.

B12 has a few years in their tv contract so there will be no quick fix.

OU did have control of the game until Mayfield went down.

OU was dominating the game until Mayfield went out with a concussion. Trevor Knight has sucked outside of the Sugar Bowl two years a go.

They aren't going to take UH. It adds nothing to the revenue stream or TV viewership.

If the Big 12 doesn't make the playoff this year it will be because there were too many good teams ahead of them. If OU wins Bedlam I would wager they make the playoff. But they will need Mayfield back, if he's gone, I don't like their chances.

Wait...wait for it....what if, I mean what if, we discuss realignment again.

Stop it. Just stop it, SLHG. We won the game, the helmets were sucky, and now we deserve some realignment talk. This is Ponyfans.

And we won the game Saturday....

Here's Your Realignment Talk

The Bubble Boys are moving down to 5A

Highland Park had a snapshot-day enrollment of 2,106 for the 2014-16 UIL alignment, just six students over the cutoff. HP's snapshot-day enrollment for the 2016-2018 alignment, which was turned in last month, was 2,120. Before the last realignment, Highland Park had been in the UIL's second-largest classification since 1988. (The largest classification was 5A until 6A was created in 2014).

Some of the other schools that will be affected include South Garland (2,300 enrollment), McKinney (2,600), Wylie (2,231) and Rockwall-Heath (2,278), which will be moving from 5A to 6A. Among the current 6A schools moving down will be Colleyville Heritage (2,115) and Garland Naaman Forest (2,074). Denton Ryan is also expected to move down to 5A because its reported enrollment was expected to be less than 2,100.
