If overflowing crowds were the key to the whole thing than Memphis and Houston would not be the frontrunners and BYU would have been in yesterday.

Houston and SMU should be added to Big 12.
Makes most sense.
SWC all but reconstituted then.
Regional, regional, regional is the future.

But it's long term, not short term.

Anyone that thinks success on the field or on the court is a deciding factor is delusional. Look at Rutgers. What matters is how much $$$ you are worth to a conference. And SMU's $$$ worth will continue to increase for conferences that aren't getting a slice of DFW already.

That said, SMU will never be in the Big 12.

I disagree.

@theDudeofWV: So you guys ready. The B12 composition committee is reportedly ready to recommend Cincinnati & Houston for membership.

ESPN doesn't care about regional, and they are largely pushing the realignments.

Influence, which is far more important than whatever on-field struggles they're currently facing.

UC and UH have made serious commitments to facilities. The SMU administration can't even figure out where to put an IPF and have been dragging their feet on it.

You think it'd be different if some other network ran college football?

That influence is waning.
Thank God.

Successful smaller programs should never stop fighting for influence.
Baylor and TCU show the way in these parts.
Screw the behemoths.

The behemoths will always be more influential than successful smaller programs because people will follow them even if they're losing. The behemoths are why CFB is so popular.
