Ouch, that program can't catch a break.

Probably a good move financially. They will be fine.

Yeah. Probably would be a good thing if Hugh Freeze left today too.

USM should be throwing him a party. Went from 1-11 to 3-9 to 9-5 in 3 years! Definitely earned the right to move on to greener pastures, and probably 4x the $$$$.

If Morris takes SMU from 1-11, to 9-5 in his third year, and then leaves, are you going to call him an assclown.......or Thank him?

I am not calling him anything. It is a cutthroat business. But a head coach leaving a week before national signing day is not a happy day for the school.

USM will be fine. They are the ideal launching pad job.

That being said, I say this is additional fallout for firing the 'one guy who both consistently won at and viewed the HC job at a mid-major program as his dream job' dumbassery.

Any recruits of theirs we would be interested in?

Don't worry about the QB. Worry about your basketball coach.

Leaving is fine. Leaving with NSD next week is an #assclown move.

I am sure the guy did not dictate when the offer came or would come his way. It did when it did, so he is suppose say or do what exactly?? Hey Bucs (NFL), wait two weeks, let me sign these kids, and then I will bail on them a week later. Lose Lose no matter what. Or, no, I am not going to do what I feel is best for my family and my future. Sure the timing stinks, but, I am not sure he had anything to do with that. Plus, he did not leave for another college.

Yeah, at least he didn't try to leave for another college and take some of our recruits with him like somebody we used to know.

Also, if Morris wins 9 games his third year, and decides to leave us, I still will be in line to thank him.

Bill Clark of UAB wouldn't even talk to USM. Granted, there are special circumstances surrounding him and what he's pledged to do at UAB, but I wouldn't feel great if I were USM at this point. Might have to just go in-house and hope for the best.

yeah the jump from college to NFL can be brutal on a college program because of NFL calendar-NFL jobs open up in January with signing date in February-there will never be a good time for a coach to jump to the NFL. If he waited until after signing date-the criticism might be worse. "You mean you asked me to believe in you and you leave 2 days after I sign" Seen that scenario several times on an NFL Coach jump
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

I wonder if Ellis Johnson is available?

Curious about their class, I looked it up. They already have a bunch of Juco guys signed and a decent class in the making. It will be interesting to see what they do. #calljunejones
