Recruiting hasn't been the issue with Texas and everybody knows it. It's never been an issue and it never will be.
Mack's last few years there landed loads of talent that never panned out for a myriad of reasons. Charlie got the leftovers and it was still enough to beat OU for their only regular season loss. The question is can Charlie's talent, most of which was in the Freshman and Sophomore classes this year, develop fast enough to get them out of the middle of the Big XII pack. I think next year he turns it around and they they show significant improvement. Whether it's enough to save him I don't know, but recruiting isn't the issue.

Recruiting will be an issue if he starts gets classes outside of the top 20 and does not win the Big 12. While he beat OU he got it handed to him by TCU and Iowa State. Iowa Sate. And yes recruiting was a problem at UT during the Mackovic years. When Mack Brown got there they started getting top 2 and 3 classes again. When Strong got there dropped to 13th in the country and most were Mack recruits. Then the next class dropped to 20th. Now he is in the 40's with less than a week to go and had had one recruit flip from Texas to Stanford here recently. He is making it [deleted] himself trying to do this last second recruiting. Right now Texas is in the middle of the pack in recruiting and will probably stay in the middle of the pack during the season.

Texas ended up with a Top 10 Class last year-actually beat the Aggies in Average Per Recruit. If you follow recruiting insiders the consensus is that they are closing very strong again this year which is reflected in the 247.sports predictions and Scout predictions on the Top 250. Those top guys will not commit until signing date-so its wait and see

Ding Ding Ding!!

The biggest problem Texas faces is trying to figure out how to deal with 2-3 coaches who will be in the CFB Hall of Fame. Think about it this way. Bob Stoops has 9 B12 championships and 1 national championship and he is probably (at this point in his career) the third best coach in the B12. Simply put, Patterson and Briles are historically great coaches.

Unfortunately for Texas fans (like me), there is no evidence to suggest that Strong can coach at that level. The fact that they had to beg (and overpay) people to be his OC is strong evidence of what other coaches think of his future.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!

UT probably will not even win the conference recruiting title this year.

Rumors of Strong's demise were greatly exaggerated.

but I nailed it. DMN should be embarrassed by that stupid article especially with E.J. Holland the editor of UT's 247sports.com on staff. EJ was warning everybody to watch out for UT's close

He closed pretty well. Still not a top 3 class like Mack Brown normally had but he did pretty well at number 10. Just think he makes it tough on himself by trying to close at the last moment. Baylor got the best recruiting class in the history of the school at 14.

UT is No. 8 on Scout

Why can't A&M recruit?

Only 8th in SEC

Bad pub on the two 5 star QB's that left. They will be back next year. Maybe Strong can get at least one 5 star QB by then.
