They recently hired Noel Mazzone as their OC. He'll get past this.

Two more seasons of mediocrity then they'll buy him out.

Welcome to the SEC...West, no less. Too many Ag$ think they should be in Bama's place with 4 of the last 7 national championship trophies residing in College Station. Good luck with that.

They could still claim those titles and put the letters up in their new stadium

I'm not sure he makes it two more season. Strong may even out last him as hard as that is to believe.

Well, the article states that he was fired by a former AD and was there for 31 years - God knows A&M has had a few coaches in that time. It doesn't say anything about Sumlin's treatment of his players.

A&M can win, but they have an uphill climb. Bama, LSU, and Ole Miss and even Tennessee could all be loaded next year. They have UCLA to open with and Arky and State will be fights as well. Even a great team could have problems with those teams. Sumlin needs ten wins at least.

Sumlin will be fine with 8 to 9 wins with a new OC and 2nd year DC with that schedule. Besides what coach would be better in whom they would have a realistic chance to get? Herman or HCCM? Next year we will have to see if Herman was a one season wonder.

Herman a one season wonder......really? More like the next Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh, etc. Need to figure out how to keep up with him, or pray he moves on to a bigger job sooner rather than later.

I am not be critical of Herman. Just saying that he took over a pretty good team. That helps. When he gets his guys in place and has a few more skins on the wall as a head coach before saying that he is the next Saban. What he has done at UH somewhat mirrors what Sumlin did so far. If he keeps this up for 2 more seasons I think he goes to a P5 program if it is the program he wants to go to.

This individual's comments about a HC pressuring him to stamp athlete's as "playable" will have about as much impact on Sumlin's job status as an NBA head coach has on his team...virtually none. Both are not relevant to their respective programs.

What WILL get Sumlin adiosed is another 8-5, 7-6 campaign. It is all about the skins on the wall, as the previous poster said. In any case, these are Aggies...remember, it doesn't have to make sense.

guess you haven't checked the price of oil lately. throw in that they went way overbudget on the stadium, and there's no money to. it's why they've been playing the shell game with assistants and AD's who don't have big buyouts

That makes sense especially if you look at the way Sumlin's contract is structured.

After years of top 5 recruiting class UT's class is currently in the 40's. Even if has has a good wee in recruiting don't think he can get them into the top10.

better hold on-Texas could run the table and end up with best Big 12 Class just like they finished strong last year. They are predicted to get at least 5-6 more National Top 250s on 247.sports so it could happen. A lot of top kids are waiting to announce at National TV events like ESPN signing day coverage so we probably won't know until signing date
