JJ "gave up" well before that. That was the day JJ decided his work in bringing the program back to pre-JJ levels was complete.

That was miserable. Abject by SMU against an awful UNT team.

63-0 to Memphis.

56-0 at HALFTIME!

Paxton Lynch 7 TD passes by HALFTIME!

23 total plays to score those 7 TD's

Memphis came into the game on a 3 game losing streak, having been held to 20, 34, and 12 in those games.

SMU came into the game fresh off it's second win, and most complete game of the season, 49-21 over Tulane.

Possibly the worst half of D1 defense in modern college football history.

Not to be outdone, Morris and his offense piled up a whopping 97 TOTAL yards of offense (33 rushing, 64 passing).

Somehow Morris & Malone were able to wrestle the award for the most unprepared, and uninspired SMU football team in decades, from the cold hands of June Jones himself.

Luckily it wasn't at home, so only about 100 SMU faithful were witnesses to the debacle. The rest of the SMU universe had tuned out long before the final game.

Your dislike for this coaching staff is amazing.

Quit whining. I've actually said many times that I think Morris is great, and the programs last hope. Jury still out on Malone, and yes I've said I think he's in over his head.

Tell me where I'm wrong about the staff and the team for this Memphis lay down?

Read the title of the thread and quit trying to distract.

That first half was the worst beating I've ever seen in football...including Nintendo...all broadcast on one of the ESPNs.

I dont think Coach Morris quit on the team. 63-0 is unacceptable, but I think everything exploded after a long season of tough losses.

Btw, 03 OU-A&M is the worst blowout I remember.

Never said Morris quit. Specifically said the team was unprepared and uninspired. The excuse of the long losing season doesn't hold water either. We just had our biggest win of the season the week before. A 2 game winning streak to end the season, setting up this season, would have been a great way to go out. Plenty to play for.

Per the OP's timeline, the NTSU debacle that led to the JJ implosion....but nothing, NOTHING comes close to the BYU Holiday Bowl defeat. I'm a Baptist pastor, and I was ready to start drinking again...

Considering the quality of the opponent, I'd say the UNT loss was the worst but last year at Memphis has to get some votes and how about that trip to Annapolis when Navy beat us without throwing a pass was that this decade?) We've had some stellar performances, for sure
