Strong is already on the Hotseat in Austin. He has 1 (maybe 2) seasons to start competing for B12 titles. Texas alums aren't going to settle for playing 2nd fiddle to BU and TCU for much longer.
Sumlin - although he has done a great job in many ways, the Aggies have a ginormous stadium that they need to fill. If the aren't competing for SEC titles soon, he won't last much longer than Strong.
Strong is fine, they knew they had to rebuild. He has brought either the best or 2d best class in the state since he's been there...it's only a matter of time and it most likely will be this year.
As far as Sumlin, I don't know what to tell ya...A&M needs to understand that to compete for SEC titles you need to beat Alabama, LSU and Auburn to be in competition...add Ole miss and Miss St along with the porkies up in Ark and you see why A&M has had trouble. That is well understood in College Station...it will be a crapshoot. Sumlin should break through and win the SEC one of these years with all the talent they have been bringing in.
1) Strong - Recruiting classes are important, but Strong has to consistently beat three future CFB HOF (Stoopes, Briles, and Patterson) coaches in his conference to be a success. The fact that he still hasn't figured out how to build an offense is troubling. If they get demolished at home by ND in the opening game, it could get very ugly very fast. Prediction: he needs to go 2-1 vs. OU/BU/TCU to save his job.
2) Sumlin - your analysis is correct; however, everyone in the SEC has great talent. To be successful, he is going to have to outcoach some outstanding coaches including Saban. I
