Feel free to throw that up on the Twitter machine-you're welcome
Claiming that the are tied in in recruiting is for losers. Recruiting rankings are like draft rankings - worthless. In 3 years, we will know who "won" the recruiting wars.
Because Herman inherited a great (G5 team and Morris inherited a team without a defense, comparing their records after 1 season is folly. Although things appear to be improving for SMU, Morris will need 3-4 years to field a competitive team against Cougar Hig.
Did Herman inherit a great team or did he make the team he inherited great? He inherited an 8-5 team that lost to Tulane and got blown out by UTSA. Does that sound like a great team? It was bad enough to get the prior coach fired.
But a private school dreaming of winning 7 games might think that's great
1) He managed lose a game to UConn and had a lot of close games that could have resulted in another 8-5 record. Frankly, if SMU had an actual run defense, SMU might have taken that game from him.
2) His OOC wins were over mediocre Vandy and Louisville teams (Plus Tenn. Tech?? and Texas State).
3) His only "great" win was in the bowl game. That was a good job.
Is he a bad coach? There is no evidence to suggest that. But, 1 good season with an inherited roster does not make him ready for the CFB HOF.
