My favorite part of the SI story. Feeling generous this evening, I will say there is probably more to the story than what is in the article (either good or bad). Even though his comment could be interpreted as blaming the victim. This is just another complete failure by Baylor in crisis management. Before they escorted this kid off campus, they should have told him to keep his mouth shut. He should have been told that anything he says can be spun, misconstrued or just make him look like a thug (there are no more friendly journalists out there anymore for anyone associated with Baylor).

Does anyone know if the State of Texas/Feds are going to investigate the Waco PD for how they handled these things?

Unless they were bribed, nothing is likely to happen to the Waco PD. At best, the politicians might be forced to fire a few sacrificial lambs.

This is an ongoing cover-up on several fronts. Who is orchestrating all of this? Who is in charge?

From what I can tell, this mess was caused because NOBODY is in charge.
Board of Regents: Because of the large number of members, I have read that they have a hard time reaching and keeping consensus. Firing Briles was not unanimous.
Alumni Association: Apparently, the relationship between the BOR and their alumni association is very poor -> the BOR tore down their building. http://www.wacotrib.com/news/higher_edu ... 460f1.html

With no President, no Chancellor, and no AD, they literally don't have an adult in charge.

The Alumni Association hated Starr and wanted him removed a long time ago. There has been a pretty poor relationship between the Alumni Association and the university for a while now. External donations are going to drop significantly because of the scandals, and the university is going to have to go back to the alumni association and beg for mercy in order to not go bankrupt from reduced donations and the lawsuits. That is why I expect the demands from the alumni association to be met - full disclosure of the report, transparency, and a lot of assistant coaches dismissed from the football program. There are already implications on two assistants without the full report being released, those guys will be let go any day now...

A lot has been made about the impact of all this on the FB team's recruiting, but I have heard nothing about its impact on their recruiting for the student body.
1) Would you send your daughter to Baylor? Over my dead body.
2) Would you send your son to Baylor? Nope.
3) How will this mess affect rankings, faculty recruiting, etc? They are going to have increased expenses and trouble with fundraising. It will probably take at least 4 years before they get this mess resolved. I think there 2017 admissions numbers are going to be a nightmare.

The people on the Baylor Rivals site think the new plan may be to suspend Briles of 2016 with a return in 2017.

I guess Briles is still in charge. Still calling the plays from the "sideline".

I thought Starr was praised for raising loads of cash. Maybe not rank and file cash but big donor cash?

I doubt that applications drop off more than 5% next year. People still need an alternative if they can't get into A&M.

Over half the Baylor fans are delusional. There are some voices who are trying to bring them into reality, but it's not enough.

If half of the accusations are true, then Briles isn't just gone, he's plutonium hot. He will go the June Jones route of coaching in the high school ranks.
