Ford Stadium entry right before Liberty kickoff?

Postby Insane_Pony_Posse » Mon Sep 19, 2016 1:11 pm

Were there less stadium entrance gates open for the Liberty game? When I arrived at the gate to go into the game shorty before kickoff the lines were horrendous....and this for a game against Liberty?

Heck what are the entrance lines going to look like this week against cross-town rival TCU?

For me it's easy to solve, just get to the gate earlier, but for many that don't attend games often, this will be something that could sour the game-day experience. With the extra emphasis on security these days can't SMU get a few more entry gates open to start the game? This was not a problem at North Texas

I think it was also perplexing to some that there was no parade of MBand/cheer squads to lead people in to the stadium.

not a problem for anybody remotely committed to making game before kick-off.

Our seats are in Section 204. We were denied entry at Gate 2.It appeared that this gate was shut down so as to accommodate the entry of the Suite folks....The Suite area is reached by 2 very slow and small elevators...for several years we sat in the Suite area, but I yell too load...so we now sit outside, where I sit quietly in dismay....anyway,there is an obvious design flaw...it is not just the security issue...we were allowed to exit through gate 2 after the game....like with so many issues, I am sure SMU will fix this if some alum wants to pay for the design improvments..and the improvements and the indoor practice facility...and maybe a new fountain..

I went in 25 minutes to kickoff. Walked right in with no waiting.

Yes. Band, cheer, pom, players, Peruna and coaches did the Mustang Walk at 3:30pm. The Walk will next take place for the UH game.

What's the point of this tradition if it doesn't occur every game?

I've been attending games since before "you know who" flew planes into the World Trade Center and have rarely seen entry lines like Liberty. Liberty for Christ's sake!...lol. Maybe a Texas Tech game had lines like that once. Why can't we handle it just like North Texas and TCU handle it without huge lines 5, 10 minutes before kickoff?

Problem is not everyone does or can do that whether it's because of kids, spouses, elderly, Dart, whatever, but again why can't SMU handle paying customers walking up at game-time, but UNT and TCU can?

Chad Morris did the Liberty pre-game players walk?

Thank You. I always try to shake Coach Chad's hand and I did not see him this time. Maybe distracted by cheer squad..lol. But you guys did change it up correct? The last few years the band and cheer squad did not participate in the players walk and now they do correct?

I thought this was at every home game....always gets me pumped and seems like a good alarm for people to get into the stadium.....so we are not having the walk before the TCU game just to double check?

The Mustang Walk is 2.5 hours prior to game time. The band and cheer did that versus Liberty, and will do that again for UH game.

Parade with band and cheer/pom leading fans into stadium is down Boulevard usually 40 minutes prior to kickoff and sounds like will resume for TCU.
