1-24 against the Big 12

all-time with the only win coming against Kansas in the opener of Ford Stadium (2000). Gotta wait another year now to try and break the losing streak. I'm sure this is a stat Rick Hart tries to avoid in meetings with the Big 12.

Because clearly none of the schools in the Big 12 know we have sucked for the last 30 years...

Incriminating? Is the school going to jail because we can't beat Big 12 schools?

Why do we continue to play Big 12 schools non-conference when the Big 12 does not want us? We need wins. 3-1 or 4-0 going into conference play not -0-4, 1-3 or 2-2. We need wins and bowl games. This school continues to over schedule which kills the program. Our idiot AD has us playing at Michigan in the next year or two - brilliant. There is a reason this program gets less support each year. We have seen this train wreck season over and over. The coaches and players are really trying but our AD screws our program with this over scheduling. Turner, the Board and our AD are clueless. When is the indoor practice facility getting built? Been talking about it for 15 years. Houston will have one before us. Sad how much progress Houston is making and how well TCU has done but we are stuck in continual repeat losing seasons. And the stupid band disrespects the national anthem when the game is to honor the Dallas Police Officers who were killed. Great pr move SMU. And you wonder why no one wants to go to the games.

I hate when people say we should schedule teams that will give us a 4-0 and 3-1 record. Honestly what good does that do for us? I get losing provides the same results but if you pull an upset it generates a lot of publicity. If we want to play FCS team and a bunch of mid-majors then why don't you suggest SMU drops the D-1 title and go join the other FCS teams...

I think we keep to the 2 difficult teams (TCU and other P5) + G5 + FCS is a good strategy for out of conference. Lets face it, if our non-conference schedule is cupcakes + TCU or all cupcakes and add our mediocre conference, no one will care if we go 10-2 or better. Sorry but that's the facts of not being in a P5 conference. I pray we do get into Big 12 or other P5 and then I will be all for scheduling cupcakes for the non conference games.

Do you think Houston would be where they are if they didn't schedule P5 schools? We do it because the year we get the big win it will be a game changer for the program - we lose and nobody expected us to win in the first place. It's a win-win.

1. Prior records against the conference don't mean squat. I don't pretend to know Rutgers or Maryland's records against the Big 10 before joining but I guarantee you they weren't great and it didn't matter.

2. We want the Big XII on the schedule - we especially want TCU on the schedule. Besides, who wouldn't want Kansas or at least ISU on the schedule? Recruiting, payout, fan interest, etc. The way to fix it is to get better, not quit on games that mean something. Besides, Baylor started scheduling all cupcake non-conference schedules when they were bad a decade ago, now it's biting them in the rear.

3. Doesn't matter now anyway - OU is about vote against expansion:

No OU = no expansion

LA,

When you layer in our record against the SWC post-DP with the B12, it's 6-76-3

Those 6 wins were:

1992, Arkansas (3-7-1)
1992, TCU (4-7)
1992, Houston (4-7)
1993, TCU (4-7)
1995, Arkansas (8-5)
2000, Kansas (4-7)

That's it.

Shouldn't there be 2 more TCU wins in there? And maybe a Rice?

Our 1st win against Rice came when we were in the WAC, not the SWC. Other victories against TCU you are thinking about were post-SWC.

Funny stat is if you peel away Rice, Arky & Houston, who were never members of the B12, and only include our W/L record against TCU while they HAVE been members of the B12, our W/L record against the B12 post-DP is 1-54-2

The Kansas win in 2000, and ties to Missouri in 1993 and A&M in 1994.
