Margus Hunt

In case you did not see it - Margus blocked his second kick of the year last weekend (he almost had his third). He seems to be playing a lot more on 3rd down in pass rush situations as well. Looks like they are starting to figure out where to use him.

Thought the blocked XP might be critical to the game - but then Cin folded at the end. Here he is talking about the block.

I watched quite a bit of that game and it looked like he was playing a lot on all downs.

I have seen a lot of articles popping up in various papers, websites, blogs, etc., that cover the Bengals. Each says that either he struggled in the start of his career, or that they (the writers) were guilty of bashing him in his first three seasons. Now, however, everything I have seen has ranged from "Hunt is doing much better" to something even more emphatic, like "Hunt has been great" at the start of this season.

Good for him. Keep it up, Margus.

Credit to the Bengals for knowing he was a project and sticking with him.

Give a guy 2nd round money and you'd better not give up on him too early

I think you are correct that he is in there more than I am stating. Should be fun to watch him develop. If they ever get a non-Frog running the show in Cin, perhaps he will eventually get a ring.

I don't think he is anywhere near the mvp for the defense. He is playing better than he has the first two years, but still...

2nd round money isn't that much in NFL terms. It's a lot for us regular folks, but probably under $1 million/year, and the team can get out of it early. Replacing that guy with a veteran on a minimum contract barely saves you anything.

Edit: just checked and his first 3 years total salary was $2.5 million. This year is a little over a million, and the minimum for a 4 year vet would be $760,000. So there isn't a lot of cost savings unless they were to pickup another young project type.
