Scattershooting While Wondering What Our Record Would Be

Postby Stallion » Sun Nov 20, 2016 4:05 pm

Stephen F. Austin
UAB
Washington State
TCU
East Carolina
Navy
Houston
Tulsa
Rice
UTEP
Marshall
Tulane

I say 8-4 including results of games actually played this year. Likely sweep our final 4 games. Important to remember we aren't in CUSA any more Dorothy-we have made tremendous progress by Year 2 but we are in a much tougher conference. Gonna take an extra year to get to a Bowl and a couple of more years to climb the ladder of this competitive conference

8-4

Keep in mind our record could also be 8-4 this season in the American if the schedule broke the right way.
Play Cincinnati, UCONN, and UCF instead of Temple, USF, and East Carolina and our cross-divisional record could be 3-0 instead of 1-2. Play a softer non-conference schedule and we go 3-1 instead of 2-2 and there you go. 3+3+2 = 8 wins in the American.

can still accomplish a similar turnaround to what JJ managed...if we can just play our best game of the year against Navy and sneak into a bowl. Whether his program goes bowling this year or next, the question is whether Chad will stay around long enough to take this program to the next level...or will he, like JJ, recognize the tough sell SMU football is and move on at 1st opportunity?

Either way, at least Chad has shown that it is not as tough a sell as June Jones made it out to be.
