Whatever soul-searching Van did at the end of last season, I'm fine if he does that again. His defenses are the reason we were close to bowl-eligibility, not our offense.

2014 loss to UNT was one of the really low points of this program, despite the many humiliating defeats we've had in the post death penalty era. This loss to Navy was just another one of those feared/anticipated blowouts but at least we were competitive for 30 minutes. Watching their FB outrun our secondary, it became painfully clear we do not yet have the athletes to beat Navy.

strong assertion which is hard to disagree with.

Question is...is it possible to put the cat back into the bag?

IMO no - if Chad decides to stay Malone has to go

was just thinking of that...which is unfortunate. Malone winds up collateral damage to Chad's dalliance w/ Baylor[/quote]

Not really. Everyone controls their own actions. Malone chose his path.

Statistically our defense was awful, allowing 453 yards per game, 7.1 yards per pass attempt, and 5.1 yards per rush attempt. The saving grace were the takeaways as we had just over 2 per game.

True. I was praising their aggressiveness and ability to generate takeaways...in function it was the epitome of bend-but-don't-break except every once in awhile it broke big-time. Like the aggressiveness though.

Go take a look at our offensive and defensive stats first half versus second half. First half we are actually decent on both sides of the ball. Second half, not so much. Blame it on depth all you want, but I have seen the coaching problems before. Young staff, they will improve in that regard.
