but the bottom line is that TCU and Baylor were not "brand names" so if OU could have beaten Ohio State in Norman...

Not a Big 10 fan but my guess is Michigan would kill Washington and Penn State would win against them.

But hey, they gave up their idea on having their say on football excellence when the first invited Rutgers and then sent them to represent them against the Pac 12 favorites.

Washington is loaded with talent and Peterson is one of the best coaches in college football. People don't watch them enough because their west coast start times. They have a tough draw obviously against bama but would not be surprised at all if that game is much closer than people think.

The simple fact is that the Committee is always going to find a reason (any reason) to let the Big TV Draw into the playoffs over an "underdog." If Purdue had OSU's record, Penn State would have taken their place. #fact.

Reading through the latter part of the report, I think it would be in our best interest to work with the other P5s to give our conference a P5 designation as i forsee that their future OOC schedules will require them to only play P5 teams as they keep fighting over playoff spots.

It's a reality TV show. This is not about finding who's the best football team.

You have bought the old BCS line hook line and sinker. If we were in the old BCS system we would be having twice the fallout because no one would even remotely agree on who woul play Bama. So stop the company line junk. Bottom line is they should have 8 teams so conference champs go and it would be better because you have to win the regular season games to win the conference championship so it would make the regular season even more valuable to more teams.

8 would be better but there will always be a discussion - look at the 64/66 team field in basketball. #67 always feels slighted.

First 8 is the right number as you stated you can pull the 5 conference champions and 3 at large.

Personally if they went that route they should get rid of the conference championships, that don't matter anyways, and just give the regular season champions a bid. Yes get rid of those damn divisions as well. First round is on campus of the hugest four seeds. Then pull the next best 3 teams.

With that said the playoff is straight up reality tv. They don't care about a "true" champion. They want big ratings and big attendance numbers. They go to the big names, disregard conference champions and make up whatever excuse to do that all for the sake of tv dollars. That's why hey will stay at 4 for a while. Not advocating it. Just stating that's what they will do IMO.

But only 5 recognized conferences! The rest are just considered FCS Division I.

#1 reason why ESPN should be eradicated from the face of the Earth is what they've done to college football
