Kiffen Negotiations with UH Hitting a Buyout Snag

UH demanding a strong buyout may derail negotiations. UH Chairman of Regents Tillman Fertitta has said that he will demand a strong buyout-be interesting to see who wants to stay at UH for more than 2 years

"According to reports on Monday, Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin could be close to landing the open Houston head coaching job.

However, some national reporters are pumping the breaks on those reports, noting that there may be a snag in the contract talks.

The issue? A buyout clause in Kiffin’s potential contract, which would force him to pay the school if he wanted to leave before his contract was up"

I hope he's not naughty once (if) he goes there. No Saban to keep him in check. Applewhite and Kiffin in Houston, well...

I like how Feritta thinks UH is some type of destination job...

totally agree as it will just make it harder to get a decent new coach that has some chops.

The longer they take the better chance for us to poach commits.

I actually like the line UH is taking. Just don't think it will workout for them the way they want.

UH is the ultimate G5 stepping stone for a coach...just ask the last three coaches. The talent is available, the location is adequate, and the university doesn't promote roadblocks to success.

So when I am in the first day of law school orientation at UH, this alumni guy stands in front of us and gives a speech about UH. He ends it with "You are all Cougars now" and holds up his hands and does the epileptic seizure shocker thing that is their cougar claw or whatever. We were all, like, "No F'ing way."

In 3 years of law school I never set foot in a UH athletic facility. Went to Rice and watched the mustangs play in their cavernous football stadium and their middle school gym. Never to UH anything.

Does rice still have the worst basketball facility in D1?

Autry Court was a dump in the 1970s...went down to visit Rice, and played a pick-up game with some friends that were Rice players...one laughingly ran over to the 'curtain' at the end of the court, and disappeared into the folds..a large cloud of dust poofed out from the bottom to the top of the drapery, and he came out looking like he had ridden a mule through west Texas, with dirt, gum, and dead insects clinging to his shirt.

I decided Rice was too weird and too far from home for me.... And it was in Houston.

Too bad, because last time I was there, I expected a middle school production of "Our Town" to break out at any moment.

according to Chronicle, Riley is not one of finalists

I think it was Kiffen, AppleBowden and Tony Orlando (and Dawn)

Kiffin looks likely tonUSG now. He knows Florida well and is probably a better fit for him then Houston
