Yes, he got a five year deal; and if he stays, Texas will open its 2020 season playing USF with Coach Strong in Austin.

Temple has contacted Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo about its vacant head-coaching job, according to a source.

Also, will interview Temple DC Phil Snow.

Why the Big 12 needs Texas' Tom Herman and Baylor's Matt Rhule to both be home-run hires

My bet is that Strong to USF will help keep them at the top of the Eastern Division of the AAC. We really need to hang onto Chad Morris until he builds a roster of talented enough guys that we can compete with them for AAC Championships. I really think the AAC is headed in the right direction and may soon be every bit as tough as the Big XII on a national level. The AAC West is already tough with Houston, Navy, Memphis and an always competitive Tulsa program.

So USF is paying Charlie $500k the first two years (plus incentives) and $2.5M the third. Eat it, UT! Texas only saves $1M and owes Strong $8M. Nice move, USF.

The buy out is structured so UT does not have to pay the full amount of the difference. I think 50%. So it is not quite that but still delightfully nice.

Really? They were reading the buyout down here on the radio the other day. I did. It catch the whole thing. I will stand corrected.

They can deduct 50% of his next two years' salary, hence the jump in year 3.

Max Olson
ESPN Staff Writer

Thanks to the structure of his buyout from Texas, Charlie Strong took a deal with USF that pays only $1 million in each of the first two seasons. He'll make $9.4 million from his Texas buyout over these next two years. Simply put: Strong is getting paid $5.7 million next year and $4.7 million of that money is coming from Texas.

Right, times two years. They can deduct 1 million of the total, which was just over 9mil.

Makes 2mil over two years. Texas can deduct 50% = 1mil.

He can really recruit Florida. The other Florida schools probably aren't happy to have to compete with him plus Butch Davis as well as Kiffin landing gigs at the other "small" Florida schools.
