We need to see his assistants. Hopefully Major has good pool of funds to use for hiring. Levine had terrible luck hiring an OC. I don't remember his first DC but Gibbs (now at TX Tech) was a good one. His first OC hire was a disaster. He told me that Nesbitt from SFA was his 7th or 8th pick after Kliff Kingsbury, Kennedy at A&M, Meacham, etc. Of course in year two he said that Meacham was his #1 pick all along. Meacham stayed one year and then he went with Travis Bush (a UTSA QB coach).

Herman got his pick of assistants and a good pool of $$ to hire his guys and that worked well.

If both stay 5+ years it'll be because they haven't won enough for a P5 school to want them.

They'd name Phil Bennet for sure if they really wanted to go ALL OUT!

He's full of [deleted] too

now when he says Kiffen wasn't a "safe hire" I do believe they might have been put off by some of due diligence coming out of Tuscaloosa

completely idiotic statement but I guess he assumes none of Houston's conference mates have any ambition about improving their programs...some of which just happened to beat Houston this year

Applewhite says he wants to be at Houston long-term, and that he expects better than winning nine games.
