Athletics provide discipline, character, and guidance to many that otherwise would not have it. Sure there are people that go through sports and come out the same as the man on the street. But it is the ones that have no parental structure or personal mentors that find what they need in sports. I am a firm believer in this.

Yeah but the discipline I learned from sports doesn't translate into discipline at the dinner table.
