you knew A$M and Missou leaving for SEC would hurt the Big XII. Don't know how many of those Texans are leaving for SEC schools but that has to be a factor

TCU does have 4 Four Stars so they are getting some of the crème of the crop

Oh I guess only 3 now that Shawn Robinson was somehow degraded to a 3 star after being named the MVP of the Texas 6A Championship-he shouldn't have even showed up at that All American game where he got downgraded because he was hurt. Very suspect downgrade since he is much better now than he was when he was a 5/4 star

I'm not seeing a trend. It's possible b12 has a bang up 2018 class of 50-60% Texans.

Nebraska adiosing was the crack that doomed the SWC/Big 8/=Big 12. They decided they could live without Texas calling the majority of the shots. A&M was just late to that party, and found the SEC willing to get a foot in the door in Texas. Good move for them.

Think about who the Big 12 has lost in its brief existence: Colorado, Mizzou, Nebraska and TAMU. You backfill with TCU and West Virginia. And then give the impression that Houston and ? are up for an invite? The Big 12 is hurting in image, if not content.

That said, if they came calling, SMU would be listening. What a world...

I hate Houston with a passion, but I'd be interested to see if they out recruited TCU last year (and possibly the year before and even so far this year). We are on the right path certainly, but we have a ways to go. Not even top 3 in AAC yet (in recruiting).

Unfortunately not. Per 247:
TCU was a very nice 22nd last year with 9 4* and 13 3*. UH was 36 with 3 4* and 14 3*
This year TCU is only at 46th so far, but they only have 13 recruits with 4 4* and 8 3*. UH with its transitional class is 65th with 18 recruits, 15 3*.

2017 For the G5:
Boise is 1 spot ahead of UH at #64. 19 commitments
CSU is a surprise at #62, but they have 23 recruits. With a full or almost full class, they may get passed as others fill their allotment.
Memphis is the leader at #59. They already have 22 recruits

And how the heck did Baylor go from 1 commit to 20 that fast? Something very weird about that.

My favorite quote from the ESPN article: "At Houston in 2016, Herman signed five-star defensive tackle Ed Oliver (No. 4 in the ESPN 300), which is one more five-star recruit than the entire Big 12 has signed since 2013. "

The Big XII is a wounded duck. Long term, I really question it's viability.

Not that surprising. Finding 20 kids to play football on scholarships in Texas is not hard.

I'm not shocked. I noticed Ohio State has three kids in the Texas top 100 this year, and I don't think UT has one. A&M may have one but everyone and his mother have come and taken a piece out of the Big XII's recruiting base.

It's only a matter of time until this conference is toast, and while I'm not a fan that's a shame for a number of reasons.

EDIT: Ohio State has 3 kids in the top TEN in the Texas 100. How does OSU get 3 out of the top TEN and UT doesn't have one?

I think it says a couple of things.

1) the list of 4/5 starts and texas top 100 aren't necessarily matching lists. Especially at the bottom of that list.

2) A&M takes a ton. I bet A&M is getting 10-15 every year, and between SMU and Houston we take another 10. That is 25% of the gap before you go nationally.

Texas Top 100?

SMU really has 2 -1 more who made a significant list before getting hurt-there are close to 375 Texas FBS signees SMU has had committed about 9-10 kids that made a major Texas Top 100 this year but 6- 7 have decommitted. SMU needs to focus on getting 4-5 Texas Top 100s and then fill our class with mostly Texas Top 200 type recruits and then fill class in with few great athletes who we uncovered like Ke'mon Freeman.

The biggest hurdles right now are recruiting against P5 Conferences, the fact that any recruit paying attention knows we have a terrible fan base and the fact that we were recruiting off 1 and 2 win seasons when most of these guys committed

Big XII is done. It has few markets, hasn't really protected the ones it has, and relies on Texas and OU for eyeballs. It's just a matter of time before Texit.

Oklahoma has the best class they've had in a long time.
