Looks Like SMU Might Have Picked Up a Punter

named Case Bayless from Richardson. Might be a walkon-I dunno. Need some competition here

all I could find is he averaged 40 yards per kick on an 0-10 team-so he probably got a lot of practice

Certainly competition / improvement will be welcome. I take it he enrolls in the fall?

But is my memory correct that a non-Texan punter on the squad checked out after HCCM arrived? How did his stats compare with those of the players SMU haw had in uniform since? Did the guy who left get PT at another school?

You are thinking about the Cali kid (Koonce?) who didn't quite live up to his H.S. stats and transferred to FCS

I thought we already got a new stud punter/kicker in Kevin Robledo. Can't have too many.

We always seem to have a new stud. Just need one who can do the job!

I think if you check his game experience, Robledo really didn't have much quality experience as a Punter-more of a FG/KO guy-although he has gone to kicking camps and worked on his punting

Hey, our punter picked up one of the most important first downs we had all year.

I would have thought that we would have scored one of the best in the country. The need could not be bigger.

When does Kevin join the team? I'm assuming this summer as I don't see him on the roster. Looks like a solid KO/FG guy, but I don't think we got him for punting. I thought the Aussie did ok.

if you think the aussie did ok you didn't watch many of our games. Im sure he is a nice guy - but that is not the answer to our punting needs.

The Aussie was better than what we rolled out the couple years prior. Avg'd more per kick than the duo of 2015 and we had a better offense.

Well yeah - cause 2015 was the punting abyss.

I would bet our punting game would rank VERY high on a list of things Coach Morris would say must improve for us to have a more successful team. Glad to see some options emerging. If shrimp on the barby wins the job vs several others in the eyes of Coach Morris, than great.
