SMU will stun the college football world by going undefeated. On what will be a cold but sunny day less than 6,000 fans will spread themselves out in Ford stadium on November 25th and watch smu defeat the former SEC powerhouse, Tulane, and complete the first 12-0 undefeated season in school history.
Since the Hawaii Bowl is not available, SMU accepts an invitation to the highly respected Frisco Bowl in hopes of having a a large fan base at the game. Coming off an undefeated regular season in 2016, a 7-5 Western Michigan team accepts a bid to play SMU. On the news of this exciting match up, SMU almost sells 1,500 tickets, having to cough up cash to pay for the remaining 5,000 unsold tickets. The Ponies win in grand fashion 44-26 to complete their first 13-0 undefeated season in school history. The voter polls are impressed voting SMU #19 in the country and smu enjoys their highest end of season ranking since the 1984 season.
Chad Morris decides to stay at SMU after he learns SMU will not build an IPF but instead purchase Highland Parks IPF.
Highland Park of course then builds what many consider to be the finest IPF in the country at a cost of 100 million dollars next door

Since getting anything higher than a 6 seed is not available, SMU gets paired with a Xavier team just coming off a mediocre year, in hopes of having a a large fan base at the game. On the news of this exciting match up, SMU almost sells 1,500 tickets to the first tournament game in Houston, having to cough up cash to pay for the remaining 5,000 unsold tickets. The Ponies unsurprisignly lose the game in the last second, choking for the third time in the tournament. The voter polls are impressed voting SMU #19 in the country and smu enjoys their highest end of season ranking so far.
Tim Jankovic quits and Larry Brown takes over again.
