I've Got a Treat for the Oldtimers (2 in Fact)

Postby Stallion » Thu Jul 20, 2017 7:29 pm

SMU v Texas 1982-got to the link-then scroll down to the ABC Broadcast with the great Keith Jackson and Frank Broyles-I don't think I've ever seen this live or on the internet. I was in Austin that day. For some reason never appears on the Longhorn Network

Thank You!!

Remember much about that day.

Hope it stays on youtube. Almost traded for a vhs copy of this a few years ago just so I could throw it on youtube myself.

I was in the UT student section.

Great memories, but watching the commercials seems to really date this.

Also, impressed with the SMU fans attending that game.

I have that game and many others on dvd. Stallion, I've checked the LHN's future tv listings many times for our games, zip. I don't think they ever show games, that they didn't win. Surprised they never show a few of their close wins against us in the 80's. In 1981 9-7, 1983 15-12, and a wild one in 1986 27-24.

The 9-7 was a classic. They made a fg of around 50 yards by inches and we missed one about the same length by inches. Hard fought game.

I missed this 82 game so I appreciate the post.

This guy has a ton of old games and even has them broken into playlists by school.

Enjoy!

Love watching these clips. Didn't see this gem in the files. If it's posted, sorry for the duplication.
I was at this game in Lubbock. Kickoff return by Leach to beat the Red Raiders with time running out. The original "Music City Miracle" play.

Everyone looks so much looser and smoother back then. Probably because they're not in the weight room 11 months out of the year.

Modern weight training is cool but now you need yoga and ART and massage and foam rolling and a chiropractor and dry needling and orthotics and lasers and 8 team doctors and a cryo sauna to stay on the field.

Wish the old Nautilus machines were still around.

It will be neat to see this game for the first time on tv since I was in the stadium that day. Heck, I may even be able to find myself in the crowd. That'd be cool.

Yeah thank god for that clip which was a part of the Exxon/Humble SWC Highlights series which played every year at the Texas State Fair because the game was not televised

Man, that is a really small OL we had. Averaged about 250? It's amazing how much bigger players have gotten.
