Lot's of coverage in the Memphis and Jackson papers. Theme is there is more coming in terms of NCAA violations. If there's another year of post-season bans players will be able to transfer without sitting out a season. Columnists write that Ole MIss is going to have trouble landing a decent coach until the NCAA has acted on sanctions.

My view: Ole Miss wanted to dump him because of NCAA violations. If they cited the violations as cause, that would be an admission of guilt. They use the hookers as the reason to fire him for cause and terminate his contract with no financial consequences.

Unfortunately for his family, it's not an excuse.

There have been rumors going back to his days as a high school coach but nobody really ever put a lot of stock into them. Some rumors started kicking up in Oxford last fall and, as someone told me, the women around Oxford knew about it even before the rumors started making it to message boards... his wife had already moved out a few months ago but it was kept quiet for publicity reasons.

While Freeze is a scumbag, I really do hope for his family's sake and for the sake of others involved that some of the other stuff doesn't come out if it's true...

As an Ole Miss fan, I like that list other than Matt Luke... unfortunately, I'd probably put him at 10/1 right now and 2 or 3/1 if he manages to win 6 or 7 games as the interim coach this year.

There is going to be a lot of pressure from the Ole Miss "Good ol' Boy" network to hire him because, apparently, being from an Ole Miss family is more important than whether or not he can actually win championships (he can recruit... just don't know if he can be a head coach yet).

Interested to see what happens to Freze. He is like Briles right now on a lesser scale, seems like people don't know when everything is going to come out and its way to risky to hire someone like that.

Most of those guys (including Morris) are in line for better jobs than the Ole Miss job. With NCAA sanctions likely to be severe, the new coach (regardless of who it is) is likely looking at 2-3 years of [deleted] whippings by SEC opponents.

Given what he went through at smu, I don't see Morris leaving for that job. There are going to be better jobs available.

1) Nutt hasn't coached since 2011. He is probably out of the game whether he likes it or not.

Seems he had to disappear after his Hilltop experience, which turned out to include some of the same Ole Miss shenanigans (sans escorts)....be interesting to watch and see if Freeze gets another shot...anywhere.
