SMU and Texas both Go Bowling

Postby ponyfan777 » Thu Aug 03, 2017 6:04 am

Arkansas transfer, Rafe Peavey is my pick for the Ponies starting QB vs. SFA. I also say both SMU and Texas will both go bowling this season. In fact, I'd love to see SMU play UT in a bowl game, might even be that new one up the tollway in Frisco. Your thoughts.

Go Ponies!

Would be fun to kick Hermans butt by three touchdowns again. So yeah, why not?

I think HIcks will start vs SFA (Peavy and Gillins might both get reps in that game). If the butt whoopin' is bad enough vs the Denton "Metallic Pea", they will probably get reps in that one as well.
Will be interesting to see how QB battle settles by conference play.

I agree that both UT and SMU will go bowling. I believe Toyota Stadium added a ton of seating this past year, so might be able to fit that UT Band! LOL

The FC Dallas stadium has REDUCED seating right now because they're building the national soccer hall of fame in one of the endzones.
It maybe holds 15,000 right now.

I think Peavy and Gillins have more talent than Hicks, but Hicks starts

Got it. Saw the construction last year in that end zone area.

I've started following the 'horns ever since I proposed to a Texas alum. The question is the same for both teams - can they live up to their potential? If so both could challenge for a conference championship.

I can absolutely see us meeting in a bowl game. If we somehow win our conference, which is not outside the realm of possibility I would love to somehow see us play against them in the Liberty Bowl - be a great match-up.

UT doesn't have the depth right now, and Herman will do the same with them as he did at UH - start out like gangbusters and then fade as the season goes on. Their physicality and tempo will surprise USC and make the game very close. UT may even pull the upset. I think they end up at 9-3 or 8-4.

Been too long since we played UT, in any sport. Man, I miss the SWC! The horns got nothin, we'd kill em.

Do not miss UT pounding SMU in a merciless manner post Death Penalty.

It might be a good game for the first half were we to meet them. However, their superior depth and size would ultimately crush SMU.

Maybe we will get them in a bowl game and then again in the baskenball tournament!

If we get a high enough seed in the tourney, they will be sure to match us up with an extremely talented and athletic Power 5 team - so perhaps you are right.

I want them hoops.

BTW, UT would NEVER play a bowl game in Texas at a venue that holds less than 60,000. They have that many show up for spring practice.
