The attendance might not have been rivalry worthy, but that was our fault not theirs and will unfortunately be a much better attendance than our conference games.

Attendance hasn't been rivalry-worthy at their place either. Maybe next time.

the attendance isn't rivalry worth mainly because it is not a rivalry. Nothing against NT but I had honestly never considered them athletically at all much less as a rival until the last ten years. When I was in school (mid 90s) we never played them in any sport that I can remember, and we have never been in the same conference. I kinda chuckled when I started hearing that thrown around mainly from their side. Again, nothing against them but just because some of their fans and their sports writer keep saying it doesn't make it true.

I certainly don't consider it a rivalry, but which game on our schedule will have better attendance?

None of the other games will even come close, all the opponents are hundreds of miles away and their fans are generally indifferent towards us thus not likely to travel to the game.

I agree. The only two schools we consistently play that moves the needle for our fan base in football is TCU and Houston.

The only school that will move the needle for the fanbase is SMU. Win 10 this year and next and see what the attendance is.

my favorite was NT fans saying a win for them would close the recruiting gap significantly between them and SMU. So you are telling me some kid has offers from NT and SMU, and he would pick Denton and Conference USA? No.

actually one Denton kid did keep his NTSU commitment despite SMU offering very late and after he'd been committed to NTSU for months. But in true recruiting battles with commitable offers we pretty much always win just like TCU almost always beats us in head-to-head

I thought the UNT attendance was disappointing. I expected a sea of green, since they are so close and had won their opener. Also SMU students were missing unless many were on the hillside.

we had about 2k students there. a third of our campus. Pretty good turn out.

Agree, was mildly surprised at the student turnout. And in typical SMU fashion, one of the suites had been given to a fraternity for them to use (guessing by dear ol dad). Not that it really matters, but c'mon man!

The students are just like us -- they roll in after kickoff and they don't sit in their "assigned seats." No issues with student turnout so far.

As long as we win they will come. Nobody wants to see a loser.
