Patterson: TCU should've scored 80 vs SMU

“We scored 56 points but really didn’t play that well. Penalties, turnovers. We did what we needed to do. We should have done what we needed to do. We were bigger, we were more physical, we were more experienced. Should have been 80.”

“I get more nervous for the SMU game every year than I do about every other ballgame that we play,” Patterson said. “You have a situation where everybody expects you to win. They’re going to be more ready to play against us than most people that play against us.”

I just got through reading this and was a about to post it, but you beat me to it. Another one of the stories, referred to our defense as trash... Can't say I disagree.

I was going to post this on the Game Thread.

If you told the TCU players just prior to the game that they would each receive $1M if they scored 100 points on SMU today, my $$$ would be on them scoring 90+

They scored 56. They let up at the end, that's 63. 2 of their turnovers gets you to 77.

I was going to Pork his statue and do a video selfie but I didn't want to be removed off Campus. I despise Fort Worth always have...

May I remind you that they scored two touchdowns in the last quarter (I think) on long runs that sould not have happened...and there was the end zone play that ended the half that should not have happened. I think we should have gotten an interference call that the refs disallowed because they thought the ball was thrown too high (but I think that is questionable - it was close). SMU made a few bad blocks (who knows what would have happened on good blocks). A missed field goal and a missed extra point - both would have made a difference in the game. I could go on and on. The game was not a blowout. Patterson may be right. They might could have scored 80 points. But, they could have lost that game if everything had gone SMU's way; or at least it could have been a 'nail biter'. NEXT YEAR PATTERSON!

In all fairness, Fatterson is right. Our D is horrible. Ran up the middle with impunity. We only stood a chance when Hill threw outside. His throws over the middle were uncontested.
