A&M had a clear touchdown called back for "inadvertent whistle" that was decidedly "advertent"...Cost them at the moment, and later might have helped cause OT in the game.

I was watching the SMU game from home in CS...I was tired after the game, too. It was disjointed, freakishly long, and had breaks at several interesting moments. It didn't hurt SMU as much as ASU, in my opinion.

Aggies this morning were complaining long and loud about the officiating yesterday, including the length of THEIR game being extended by incompetent refs...of course Aggies tend to fuss at church regardless.

CBB shortened the play clock and halftime, maybe football could start with the 40 second play clock.

Marathon college football games!

I have no problem with the 40 second clock. It is all the stoppages. With increasing pass offenses, the stopping of the clock on incomplete passes seems to be what adds the time.

If Hicks got his completion % up to a respectable level, we would have shorter games and a lot of action!

One thing I'll say about Coaching Staff-they could easily get the play off with a 10 second shorter Time clock. Don't take that for granted-not all teams are this well organized. The players get in formation and the Coaches call the play with 20-25 seconds on the clock-then its just a matter of the QB read. Its an advantage with the Tempo concept-standard. Its refreshing

I am afraid if you cut the time clock the game will get longer with more delay of game penalties.

Our first two home games were barely over three hours...what gives on this one?

I usually go with my wife (who has been my game partner all the way back to Dickerson/James). She is a great fan for about 3 1/2 hours. After that, we need to be close to over or I'm outta there. I could stay all night but I'm always thinking of my partner. Four hour + game is too long (unless I'm in the stands alone) :D .

Officials were a big part. First half took 2 full hours. Halftime plus second half took 2 more. So the excessive time was in the first half.

The Referee was Tracy Jones, an AAC official. I have a friend that is in the Sun Belt and all of their crews were working other games.

Announcers we're wrong.

The Pac-12 is trimming the time of some of its OOC home games. http://pac-12.com/article/2017/08/29/pa ... th-program

However, if the main culprit is officials standing around, I'm not sure how to address that.

It's death by a thousand cuts:
TV gets to have TO regardless what is happening on the field.
Review of plays that take forever. ( I support this)
Slow refs

Since reviews were implemented there needs to be an offset to the time required for the review like...
Clock doesn't stop after an incomplete pass. Offense needs to have a ball ready to get to the refs immediately after the play.
Clock doesn't stop after a first down.

The clock rules are pertinent for a time long past.... running offenses that would chew up the clock. Now everyone pass far more thus the game grinds slowly. If you are watching at home.... irritating but you can go to the fridge ect.... but it is excruciating at the stadium.
